No recent visitors. InterestsI love my grandchildren, elephants, and lighthouses. I loved my years in Africa and enjoy everything that reminds me of them. My biggest disappointment was that I never saw a wild elephant in Africa. I do all kinds of needlework like knitting, crocheting, quilting, cross-stitch, tatting, needlepoint, and anything that uses a needle and thread, including sewing. I learned to knit in Belgium, which is another of my favorite places with lots of wonderful memories of the country and its people. I am taking classes online for a degree in Medical Billing and Coding hoping to work from home some day. AboutI lived in three countries in Africa while growing up - Congo, Kenya and Tanzania. I love Africa and wish I could go back to visit some day. I am really going to enjoy the Africams. I have collected elephants since I was 16 years old. I am married and have 4 children and 11 grandchildren, 4 of whom are close by and I love spending time with them. I love to tell them about Africa also.

  Hi Glynne, If you look on the left side of the page and scroll down to where it says "My Site" there should be a place under that heading that says "Private Mail" Click on that and it will take you to another page. On that page, find "Compose" and click there. That will bring up an email page with "to" where you put in Congokid and then there is a place for "subject" so you put in a brief idea then there is a place to type your message. At the bottom will be a place to post comment. But, I tried to send you a pm "private message" and I got back a message that you did not accept them so you need to look at your settings from where you registered and say that you will accept private messages. That is the best way to communicate without it being out there for everyone to read. I see that you are not on line right now so I'll be waiting to hear from you! Myra

 Hello Myra, I am so new to this site that I find something and then I can't find it again! I love it though. I have been anxious to find out about you also. Someone I connected with thought that your parents were missionaries in Congo. So were mine. We lived in the eastern part of Congo for the better part of the years from 1955 to 1988 in all. I was there until 1964. I still have a sister, brother-in-law and a niece that live in Bukavu on the east side on Lake Kivu. The last place my parents lived was in Goma. I live in Michigan, the Upper Peninsula, so we are in the same time zone. I am home most of the time as I am retired and don't have much to do out of my home except go to the doctor once in a while. I hope we can connect one of these days. I am not sure of the best way to connect with people on this site, but if you'll let me know I will try to work it out. Hope to talk to you soon. My computer died as I told you and along with it went my email address book. The new machine is here but Bill doesn't have time to install it right now. So, I'm sort of out of the loop until I get that back.
